Buffed and Barbed - a new restaurant to try in Kawit

We finally got a taste of the new restaurant in our town. I saw a lot of Facebook posts from my friends and we finally had a chance to try it last weekend. It opened late last year and is located at the boundary of Brgy. Potol -Magdalo and Panamitan.

The restaurant sign that you can see along Tirona Highway.

The place is very welcoming, not to mention, they have accommodating staff. The entrance is a bit narrow but there are lots of parking space inside. But nevertheless, the place is a good place to unwind.

Ground floor.
Second floor. We opted to dine in at the second floor.

The menu

My daughter and Jasmin,

The quesadilla was served hot so we really enjoyed eating it.

We ordered Sizzling Sisig, BnB Chicken Barbeque, BnB Grilled Pork Belly and their Pasta - Longganisa Pomodoro.

Since it was lunch time when we dined in, we were not able to experience the live band.

Our overall dining experience at Buffed n' Barbed was great! They have savoury yet they managed to offer reasonable priced menu. The staff were very accommodating. The food presentation is great. The serving is quite generous making it a great deal for you money. The ambience is very cozy. I am happy to discover this restaurant near our place and I will definitely frequent during the weekend.

Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine - Home of another Aguinaldo

Almost every town in Cavite has a huge historical significance. Not far from the famous Aguinaldo Shrine lies another historical place, the Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine.

General Baldomero Aguinaldo was the first cousin of General Emilio Aguinaldo who became his right hand. He together with Emilio organized the Magdalo faction of Katipunan. While Emilio concentrated on the military side, Baldomero was more on the administrative function. He was the First President of the Association de los Veteranos dela Revolucion Filipina.

Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine is located in a quiet neighbourhood in Binakayan, Kawit Cavite. It was the second national shrine to be established in the historical town of Kawit Cavite. Whilst the house of General Emilio Aguinaldo imposes a grand structure, General Baldomero's house is modest in scale which is basically a two-storey house adorned with simple details. But of course, it is worth visiting. The entrance is free but donations are a very big help in maintaining the beauty of the place.

The front view of the house. Looks like the house in Vigan.

The back view of the house.

The lower ground floor is widely open where they do film showings for the guests.

The wooden stairs that will lead you to the second floor living room. Don't you love the details on the ceiling?

The coffee table and chairs in the living room.

What I love most about this house are the slanted bamboo flooring and their widely opened windows. It makes the whole house well ventilated.

With one of their staff Ate Rita.

Dani and Candy attentively listening to the staff while Sam puts her name in the list of guests.

Sam enjoying the view.

Just like his first cousin Emilio, General Baldomero's tomb is also located at the backyard.

Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine is open Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM; 1:00 PM to 4:00PM.

Brother's Pizza Hauz Kawit, Cavite

Together with my food buddies Mai and Sam, we visited a small pizza house just a few meters away from Savemore Kawit. Perhaps you have already seen this restaurant as it is just along the highway across 7-11 Kawit.

Their menu varies from pizza, rice meals, pica-pica and chips. They also serve juices, fruit sodas shakes and frappes. I must say they have a wide variety of food to choose from! If you are a group of 2-3 people I suggest you order their family treat which comes with drinks and soup.

They serve their frappes on a mason jar. And for a reasonable price, the frappe was great.

Here are other meals we ordered - Pizza and Nachos! Yum!

We ordered a family meal because we were H-U-N-G-R-Y.

Hey there fries addicts! The fried chicken comes with fries. ^.^

Customer can also play board games while waiting for their orders to arrive, you just need to present a valid I.D. to the staff before borrowing a certain game.

Overall we had a great dining experience at Brother's Pizza Hauz Kawit.  This restaurant is not for guests who are looking for a relaxing ambience but it is good for people who are looking for cheap eats without compromising the taste and the quality of the food. This is an advantage because their location is near local high schools. Even the quantity of the meal justifies the price. Only one not so good point about it is that it does not have a parking.

Brother's Pizza Hauz is located at Tabon, Kawit, Cavite (just along the highway)

Stairway Cafe and Salon - Kawit

It was a fine Sunday morning and I heard from our Choir mate Kuya Eman Tuazon (also one of Kawit's very hardworking councilor) that the new Cafe just opened.

Since we always have our after church bonding, my daughter, cousin and I decided to try the new place. It is a Cafe and Salon located a few minutes walk from St. Mary Magdalene Church and it is just beside the road.

The interiors are almost all wood with inscriptions on the walls and the stairs. The stairs leads to a somewhat mezzanine floor.

Their menu features rice meals, pasta, sandwiches, pica-pica, juices, shakes, cakes and of course - coffee!

They also have board games that the guests can enjoy while waiting for their orders.

To start off, we tried their pillow bites which is actually kikiam, fish balls and squid balls.

We were also able to try their clubhouse, ham and cheese and hamburger. Amongst these, we loved the clubhouse. The serving is good for 2-3 person.

In my honest opinion, they should improve on their Carbonara as it is a bit sweet.

There's nothing fancy or extraordinary with the rice meals, but still for the price, they were delicious. Being a big fan of rice.

And as they say, what's a better way to present a coffee than a latte art? The designs are adorable.

And wait, there's more! They also serve Suman during weekends.

My daughter and her friend Sheneya enjoying their Sunday brunch.

Though I think they should improve on their service as it is a bit slow, but since they are new in the business I will give them the benefit of the doubt. not to mention the staff are really friendly.

My overall experience in dining with them was great! The price of the food were reasonable. I just wish they also have a space for parking for customers who will bring their own vehicles.

Stairway Cafe and Salon is located at Gregoria St., Poblacion, Kawit Cavite.
